Our Christmas tree |
I am one of those people who starts to listen to Christmas music in November (don’t judge) and I also have got all my Christmas presents bought and wrapped already (it’s only December 4th) I guess you could say I'm over excited!
Today’s blog is going to consist of some tips on making Christmas work for you:
- Budgeting - One of the reasons I start buying presents in end of October into November is because it’s affordable that way. If you leave shopping until the last minute then your less likely to be able to buy what you want. I am talking as a part time worker and full time student, it works for me to start a lot earlier in order to afford it all.
- Present buying - When it comes to buying people presents I used to just buy random little bits and bobs which no one ends up using anyway, but you buy it because you have no clue what to get them. However, this year I’ve learnt less is more. My family all have one big present that they actually want and then you can do couple small ones that you think they’d like. If you don’t know just ask them, you’d rather them want the present then never use it
- Friends - Now, something I’ve learnt over the years is if you have a big friendship group it’s hard to afford presents for everyone. Instead of doing this, do secret santa instead! That way everyone gets a present but everyone’s spends less! Remember to set a budget though - don’t want people under or over doing it, keep it fair.
- Decorations - I defiantly live by the saying 'go hard or go home' when it comes to decorating for Christmas. By that I mean I just love our family home to be covered in decorations throughout the whole of December ( I blame my mum for this ). However, decorating the house doesn't need to be expensive. When me and my brother were younger we would make some of the decorations ourselves. There's loads of videos online where you can create whatever you want.
